After finding himself the target of an internet meme, actor Wentworth Miller fired back with an honest and heart-felt response that addressed the depression he was under when the memed photo was taken. His analogy of a determined and strong dandelion struck a chord with me, and with many others who deal daily with the grips of depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.

I wanted to honor both his words, and the reality of living and surviving as a person with mental illness and so this particular piece was born.
